Day 3 is all about having seeing the city’s garment district side. The tour is usually $90, but being students we all got to half the price for the tour $45!! one of the best thing of being a student, you get discounts for tours!! the tour was about three to four hours. I got to learn so many new things! first we all had gone to a fabric store, “Mood” where we saw the different types of fabric. There were few animal skins which were quite disturbing for me to see and touch them!! There were skins of Zebra, Python and Rabbits.
After this fabric store, we had headed to a magazine store, where there were magazines from around the world, just name it and it’s there! Again we weren’t allowed to take photographs inside the store, we were there for about 10 minutes and later headed to small factory.
Being here for an hour or so, we headed to designers who design hand-made shoes. Their place was all in one, it had their small workspace, office and the showroom under one roof!!
After the four hour long tour, I ended up going to a restaurant Le Pain Quotidien, which was on Broadway. The food was very delicious. The tour was really nice, I ended up learning new stuff from the people who are currently working in the industry, and how to meet new client and make contacts in the industry. Being finished for the day, I headed to 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue for my cultural research and shopping! Being in New York during the starting of the year, you get amazing deals while shopping. I bought myself two pair of knee length boots for just $35 (yes both the pairs for $35, I know this is insane)!! Just walking up straight on the 5th Avenue, on 57th Street, I went to the Apple store and saw Bergdorf Goodman store! I would have added the stunning visual merchandising photos of Bergdorf Goodman’s store but the window is currently being designed so you have to wait!! I’m in love with this city!!
