Mario Testino: Fashion photographer

So my submissions are coming near for my semester one, and here I have one assignment in which I have to write a visual critique essay on a photograph by a listed photographers from the brief. After understanding the brief, its requirement and outcome, I decided to choose Mario Testino, a fashion photographer for this project (essay critique of mine).  Many readers might not know who Mario Testino is so I’m just going write briefly about him and show some his works.

Mario Testino, is a Peruvian fashion photographer, his work has been featured in magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair. His career high point came when he was chosen by Princess Diana for her Vanity Fair photoshoot in 1997. Testino has been regularly employed by the British royal family ever since. Aaron Hicklin of The Observer described him as “the world’s most prolific magazine and the fashion trade photographer. Testino has shot fashion stories for Vogue, V, Gucci and Vanity Fair. Celebrity subjects have most famously included Diana, Princess of Wales and her sons. Other subjects have included many actresses such as Kate Winslet, Kim Basinger, Kristen Stewart, Julia RObers etc. Testino has become one of the world’s most well known and celebrated fashion photographers. His work has been featured across the globes in magazines and he has crafted and contributed to the imagery of leading fashion houses such as Burberry, Gucci, Versace, Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Estee Lauder and Michael Kors among the others.

His photographic style is more on the romanticized and portfolio shots so it was quite interesting to do a research on him and select a photo, from his previous work
