Feminism and Fashion.. (Day 25)

So I’ve mentioned before in my posts that I will be doing a group project with my classmates as a part of semester two project! and we decided to choose the theme Feminism at first but then we linked feminism and women empowerment for our fragrance brand project. So we all did some research for feminism part so I thought of sharing my insights on feminism and fashion.

There have been many campaigns, advertisements, daily soaps, fashion shows etc which shows the concern towards feminism. All of us know who Emma Watson is and she was nominated the feminist celebrity of the year because of he for she campaign and there are many feminist celebrities like Beyoncé! Seeing the trend of feminism in fashion, a perfect example can be given by stating what happened in the Chanel fashion show. Feminism was apparently en vogue at the Chanel spring/Summer fashion show in Paris which ended with a mock female protest. The photos from the show had gone viral over the social media especially twitter with #Historyherstory #Freefreedom.

There are other campaigns too such as #likeagirl by always (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjJQBjWYDTs), This girl can (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN7lt0CYwHg) which inspires women to challenge cultural assumptions about femininity that prevent them from engaging in sport and exercise. Social media campaigns are also popular like who needs feminism, had gone viral on twitter and Facebook, which attempted to shed light on misconceptions about feminism and how modern feminism is coming froward now. To talk about this more my group mates and I created a moodboard to depict modern feminism.

So this was initial idea on how to go about this project and we are still joining new threads and ideas to it.

I hope you guys liked the insights 🙂
